UPDATE (11 May 2012): We are happy to report that the BC Minister of State for Multiculturalism, John Yap, will be in attendance at the Madaraka Day BBQ. He is keen to meet and learn more about the Kenyan community in BC. The KenBC Executive encourages all members, friends, and supporters of our community to come out and meet the Minister.
John Yap was appointed Minister of State for Multiculturalism on March 24, 2012. He was first elected in the riding of Richmond-Steveston in the 2005 provincial election and was re-elected on May 12, 2009.
Mr. Yap previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Clean Technology to the Minister of Energy and Mines, as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board, the Legislative Review Cabinet Committee, as well as the Select Standing Committees of Public Accounts Crown Corporations and Finance and Government Services

This is at Surrey Central Mall and is located right across from th Surrey Skytrain Station.
A select group of speakers will address important facts and rules surrounding issues such as:
- Entering Canada on a temporary status
- Remaining in Canada
- Sponsoring relatives to come and live in Canada
- Changes to the parental sponsorship rules
- Adoptions and Guardianship
- Claiming Refugee Status
- Other issues of interest

Transit: Venue is easily accessible by bus and SkyTrain
Parking: SFU does not control or manage any of the parking lots at their Surrey campus. A 3-hour time limit is posted for Mall shoppers only. There is pay-parking on the 5th level of the parkade or across the street on 102nd Avenue on a first come first serve basis.
